Core Beliefs

Who is God?
There is only one true, perfect, omnipotent and all-powerful God. He is the God of Abraham and Moses. This God manifests Himself in three distinct ways as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each possessing the equal and full attributes of Deity. God created the world from nothing, sustains it according to His desire, and has operated throughout history to reclaim His world and to reconcile mankind into a personal relationship with Himself.

Who was Jesus Christ?
Jesus was God in human form. He is noted in scripture to be God in human form, who came to show us how to live, then died in our place so that we might live eternally with Him. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died in man’s place, defeated death and was resurrected from the dead. He presently sits at God’s right hand in Heaven, interceding with the Father on behalf of men.

Who is The Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is also God and is the third part of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Spirit was sent to us by Jesus Christ to live inside those men and women who believe in Him, in order to produce God’s character in the life of a believer. We cannot consistently produce these qualities of God on our own but the Holy Spirit will build into our lives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). The The Holy Spirit also performs a function for non-Christians as well, convicting people’s hearts of God’s truth concerning how sinful we are (John 16:8-11). The Holy Spirit tugs on our hearts and minds, asking us to repent and turn to God for forgiveness and a new life.

What We Believe About The Bible …
The 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the ultimate source of truth and the full and final authority on all matters of the Christian faith and lifestyle. We believe that all scripture in the Bible was divinely inspired by God. God chose for this scripture to be recorded through human authors, who wrote what God wanted them to write. We believe God’s word is infallible and is inerrant in the original manuscripts and reliable copies of these manuscripts exist today.

The Purpose of the Bible and Man…
The purpose for God revealing himself to modern man through scripture is that man might be reconciled into intimate communion and fellowship with his Creator. We believe that men and women were originally created solely to have a friendship with God, but all of mankind rebelled and selfishly chose an independent nature that alienated them from God. The price for this rebellion was permanent separation from God — and ultimately death.

Jesus Christ was given by God to pay the price of death for men and women, that by receiving Him as their Savior, they might escape the penalty of rebellion and be permanently reconciled to the Father.

What Is Salvation?
Salvation is the work of God alone. It is a free gift from a loving God to all who choose to accept it. God’s gift to men and women was Jesus Christ, who sacrificed His life on the cross so that we may be saved from death, sin and eternal separation from God. The only saving “work” a man or a woman can perform is to die to their flesh (selfishness), repent (turn) from sin and accept Jesus Christ as Savior and follow Him as Lord (Boss) of their lives.

What Is The Church?
The church is not a building or a denomination. The church is the people of God, who are believers and followers of Jesus Christ. All who receive Jesus Christ as Savior are immediately members of the body of Christ, because of this new birth. The scripture commands that believers gather together for worship, teaching, fellowship, communion, baptism and to devote themselves to the work of God in the world. It is through this local gathering of believers that ministry is accomplished, individuals are won to Christ, and Christians are taught to live a God-honoring life.

We know that visiting a church for the first time can be a nerve-wracking or even an intimidating experience. Having an idea of what to expect can help.

Q: What is The Lighthouse?

A: We are a non-denominational Christian church that currently meets at 10 a.m. on Sundays at 2478 County Road 147 in Kingdom City, Mo. Connection Classes (what we call our Sunday school groups) begin at 9 a.m. Directions to our church can be found HERE.

Q: What should I wear?

A: There is no dress code at The Lighthouse. We want you to be comfortable. Whether you dress semi-casual, in formal Sunday wear, or dress in jeans and a T-shirt, it doesn’t matter. Just come as you are and worship The Lord.

Q: What is a typical Sunday service like?

A: The service begins at 10 a.m. and consists of prayer, contemporary worship music, and a Biblical-based message presented by Pastor Jason Jordon. The second Sunday of the month we take communion as a church family.

Q: Can my children sit with me during the service?

A: Absolutely! Children ages 5-11 can pick up a Lighthouse Bible Club bag at the door. Inside are crayons, Bible puzzle pages and a coloring book they can use during the service. If you’re interested, we do have a nursery available for children ages four and under.

Q: How does The Lighthouse handle giving?

A: We do not pass around a collection plate or bucket during the service. If you feel led by God to give, you are able to do so in private.  There is an offering box with a Lighthouse in the back of the sanctuary next to the door. We also offer giving online through FundIt by Flocknote.
